The Shimano Baitrunner XT-B LC Reel is a total revamp of an all-time classic. The Baitrunner system enabled anglers to use a lever on the rear of the reel to disengage the drag - friction plates that prevent the spool from overrunning but lets it run when it’s pulled hard enough - so fish could take the line more freely when they bite and anglers could get a more positive hookset.
This reel comes fully-loaded with Shimano’s finest technologies, such as a large AR-C Spool with slow oscillation, which provides longer casting distances while preventing backlashes - line tangles on the reel - and wind knots - tangles resulting from too much slack while reeling in - from forming. Combined with Aero Wrap II, a worm gear oscillation system that ensures uniform line lay and winding shape, preventing loss of energy during casts, this provides the utmost casting distance.
The reel also features XShip, a system that provides two-point support of a larger pinion gear with four corrosion-resistant S A-RB ball bearings. This delivers gear stability, a smoother transfer of power and increased durability, boosting the efficiency of the reels, as their ultra-light handle rotation means less effort, more power and flawless rotation under heavy loads, meaning they remain smooth and offer peak performance for longer.
To assist with this, the gears of this Shimano reel have been redesigned to minimise friction as well as increase the transfer of power to the rotor from the long aluminium handle. This provides greater winding power and rotational power, or torque, making it easier to play fish and giving you more control over delivery.
The Big version of the Shimano Baitrunner XT-B LC Reel offers remarkable casting performance, making it an ideal reel if you’re looking to catch carp in larger waters, while the Medium version is an excellent choice if you want a reel of similar specification and quality for use on smaller waters where casting distance isn’t the most significant factor.
